What is the Fly-In?
Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association along with the Ohio Aggregates & Industrial
Minerals Association plans an annual trip to Washington DC to address issues critical
to the aggregates industry with Indiana
The trip is usually scheduled in early to mid June (depending on the congressional
calendar) to give members an opportunity to visit one-on-one with the US Congressmen
and Senators.
Participants discuss industry issues with their representatives, which include
long term funding; differences with MSHA inspections, fines, and interpretations
of the rules; escalating fuel costs; and runaway federal spending among other issues.
It must be impressed on elected officials what these issues do to industry businesses.
This is an opportunity to make a face-to-face connection with Indiana legislative
leaders.
This is an important method of communicating industry concerns to Indiana elected
officials. IMAA makes appointments with the congressional offices well in advance.
IMAA asks members from each district to attend.
Who Should Attend?
- Owners
- Area Managers
- Managers
- Families
It is very important for the IMAA Washington DC Fly-in that participants from
each Congressional district in Indiana attend. The representatives in Washington
like to schedule appointments with people who live in their districts.
Families are also welcome to attend! Bring the kids along to meet Indianas representatives
and explore the Nations Capital. IMAA tries to schedule a family outing during the
Fly-In, which may be anything from an exclusive tour of the Smithsonian to a visit
to the White House.
There is no registration fee to attend the IMAA Washington DC Fly-In.
