INTRODUCTION

This course, presented by the Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI) in partnership with INDOT, is designed to give participants a working knowledge of the principles associated with testing and controlling asphalt mixtures and aggregate

properties. Those who attend this course will have the "know-how" to meet all specification requirements for testing and controlling asphalt mixture properties during production at a Certified Hot Mix Asphalt Producer facility.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Although the course will have wide application because of the subject matter presented, it is designed for personnel who are required to be certified for QC/QA asphalt production testing. The participants will include asphalt producer contractors, aggregate suppliers, testing laboratories, engineering consultants, and state and local agencies.

Attending this class and passing the exam will result in successful certification. Certified technicians will need to demonstrate proficiency testing for their district in accordance with ITM 583. Upon

request, PDH’s will be provided.

PROGRAM CONTENT

The course is designed to provide personnel with technical and practical knowledge through classroom

instruction and "hands-on" laboratory experience. Topics include asphalt and aggregate sampling and laboratory testing, INDOT specifications, mix design basics, INDOT’s acceptance procedures including percent within limits (PWL) pay factor calculations, plants, field testing, INDOT audits, equipment calibration, and quality control troubleshooting.

THANK YOU TO APAI TRAINING COMMITTEE MEMBERS!

This year, APAI and INDOT recognized the need to update course programming and to re-

brand the program as "ICAT". In collaboration with Ivy Tech, the training committee has thoroughly revised content of powerpoint presentations, course manual, and exam to focus on the highest priority learning objectives for attendees.

LOCATION

The program will be held at Heritage

Group’s new facility, The Center, located at 6320 Intech Way, Indianapolis, 46278. The Center is located west of I-465 and south of 71st Street near Indiana Wesleyan University West.

FEES AND REGISTRATION

The cost of the class is

$720 for APAI member firms and all governmental agency personnel, including INDOT employees. Non-member firms will be charged $820 per attendee. The course fee covers the student manual and Texas Instruments scientific calculator. The manual will be available for pick-up at the APAI Winter Conference and Trade Show on December 14th at the Indianapolis Marriott East.

With the launch of APAI’s new website, all registration will be online

at asphaltindiana.org. Payment will be by credit card only. Registration will open on November 1st, 2017 and will be limited to the first 60 attendees due to laboratory space limitations. There is no cancellation fee on or before January 8th. After that, a $100 cancellation fee may apply.
